A self-proclaimed “recovering” corporate attorney, Michael donned a suit and tie to work every day for nearly a decade. Not finding off-the-rack suits cut to his liking, he began having his clothes custom made. After trying over a dozen tailors without finding exactly what he wanted, he figured there was an opportunity to create something better.
Since doing his homework had become second nature – Michael received his undergraduate degree in engineering from Georgia Tech, where he was a prestigious President’s Scholar, and his JD/MBA from Northwestern Law School and the Kellogg School of Management – he began taking tailoring classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology to understand professional tailoring techniques first-hand.
In 2006, Michael Andrews Bespoke was launched with the vision of crafting high-end yet approachable custom clothing with a modern flare. Over the past thirteen years, Michael Andrews Bespoke has earned an international reputation as one of the world’s premier custom tailors.
When not attiring the City’s best dressed, Michael can generally be found exploring far-flung destinations and places within a three-block radius of the store.
Cory is a graduate of Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL where he majored in “playing baseball.” After graduating in 2008 with degrees in Communications and Athletic Administration, his passion for theater led him to Chicago, where he spent the next few years working and training as an actor at the legendary Second City Theater. Realizing he wasn’t going to find fame and fortune in the Midwest, Cory left Chicago for New York City, where he found MAB instead.
Cory enjoys red meat, red wine, black coffee and the style of Serge Gainsbourg.
As the company’s head patternmaker, Tony brings a unique background to the world of men’s tailoring. A San Francisco native, Tony attended UC Davis, where he originally studied electrical engineering before completing a more marketable degree in Fine Art. It was during art school that he first began sewing his own clothes — a hobby that turned into a true passion.
Pursuing his passion, Tony moved to New York for a career in the apparel industry. He cut his teeth in the city’s historic garment district, making patterns for a variety of designers from the staunchly conservative to the wildly avant-garde. This diversity of experience uniquely prepared him for the vast range of clients that MAB serves.
When not drafting patterns, Tony maintains an active interest in mechanical pencils, science fiction, and Haruki Murakami.
JULIEN LE GALLOU
Julien, a Paris native, began his career as an actor, appearing in numerous films you may have seen (if you speak French). When the silver screen began to fade, Julien opted for the Big Apple’s silver spoons. He has managed some of the city’s top restaurants for chefs such as Anthony Bourdain and Daniel Boulud. It was during his tenure at DBGB that Julien befriended the MAB team during their frequent – and often lengthy – visits to his bar. His dapper style and je ne sais quoi were undeniable, so Michael & Co. made it their mission to recruit Le Frenchman to MAB. Alas, he is now MAB’s resident bon vivant. Monsieur Le Gallou not only counts fine wine and dining among his vices, he also has an affinity for boxing. Rumor is, he has a vicious right hook.
Alex moved to New York from North Carolina to attend the prestigious Parsons School of Design, where she explored virtually every avenue of fashion. During her creative journey, she fell in love with modern menswear after spending two years training under a contemporary of Michael. During this time, she worked on exclusive one-of-a-kind pieces for elite clients, furthering her knowledge of fabric and fit. Her love of luxury and craftsmanship lead her to MAB, where she’s brought a fresh design perspective that’s equal parts Savile Row and the Rolling Stones. In addition to her expertise in menswear, Alex has helped further the MAB experience to women by crafting our bespoke womenswear offering. When not styling Manhattan’s elite, Alex is absorbing the culinary and cultural offerings of the City. You’re just as likely to catch her at the opera as you are a rock concert.
Ben joined the MAB team in December 2018 after 10+ years as a custom clothier with the Tom James Company.
Ben originally hails from Cowpens, South Carolina (yes, that’s a real place). He attended college at The Citadel, where after spending four years in uniform he developed a profound appreciation for being able to pick out his own clothes. Following graduation, Ben spent two years as a semi-pro cyclist and triathlete before trading in his spandex for custom suiting.
In his free time, Ben enjoys exercise, tequila, and being an Instagram husband for his equally stylish wife (@aliciawpettit).
Andy Kozinn is a third-generation clothier born and raised in New York’s legendary garment industry. His grandfather, Samuel, founded Saint Laurie Merchant Tailors in 1913. During its 105-year history, Saint Laurie (and its successor Kozinn & Sons Merchant Tailors) made hundreds of thousands of quality suits for generations of New Yorkers. The company attributes its longevity to the family’s courage to embrace change.
With the apparel industry changing faster than ever, Andy recognized a new direction was needed, so in 2018 Kozinn & Sons teamed up with Michael Andrews Bespoke. The Kozinn family legacy lives on through the combined company’s unwavering commitment to quality, craftsmanship and service.
With the merger of these two great companies, Andy brings his 40+ years of experience (along with a warehouse full of client files and garment patterns) to the MAB team.
Coincidently, Andy and Michael are both Northwestern University alum (Andy graduated from Medill School of Journalism while Michael attended Kellogg) and both have law degrees they try hard not to use.
If you want to know what makes Andy tick, think about Benny Goodman, Fred Astaire, Keith Richards, The Godfather, It’s a Wonderful Life, Junior’s cheesecake, and the 1996 Yankees. Just don’t mention the Yankees part to Michael – he’s a Braves fan.
Frasier hails from South Carolina, where he attended Winthrop University. After a stint in sports management, he moved to Chicago to join the city’s highly regarded restaurant industry. During his years in the Windy City, he created beverage menus for some of the region’s finest establishments. He also had the opportunity to visit dozens of the world’s leading wineries and distilleries, giving him a taste for the finer things in life. Given his expertise curating world-class experiences for consumers, Michael recruited Frasier to join the MAB team in 2013.
Frasier has a passion for Champagne, green Chartreuse and pumpkin pie.
